OUR STORY
From the Pearl of Africa to the World's Best Roasters.

Alexander M. Kakembo
FOUNDER & CHIEF EXPORT OFFICER
“Uganda grows world-class coffee. We exist to make sure the world knows it.”
Kembo Heritage Coffee Exporters was born from a clear conviction: Uganda's coffee deserves more than anonymity in commodity chains. It deserves to be seen, valued, and celebrated for the quality, heritage, and story it carries.
As a founder, I live this gap every day. I understand both the pride of producing exceptional coffee in Uganda and the demand for transparency and connection from buyers abroad. Kembo was created to bridge that gap — to connect Ugandan farmers with global specialty markets in a way that creates shared value for everyone involved.
The truth is, the quality has always been there — but due to obscurity, Uganda's beans could score 84+ points in a blind cupping and still go unnoticed. The Pearl of Africa has been producing world-class coffee for decades, yet potential alone does not move markets. We built the bridge: between the farm and the roaster, between origin and market, between untold value and global recognition.
We built that bridge.
At Kembo, we exist to help Ugandan farmers thrive, help roasters differentiate, and ensure the true value of the Pearl of Africa reaches tables around the world. Every relationship we build, every lot we source, and every shipment we deliver is part of a larger mission: to elevate Ugandan coffee through trust, traceability, and long-term partnership.
While Kembo Heritage Coffee Exporters was formally established in 2026, our founder's roots in Ugandan coffee farming span a lifetime — from picking cherries as a child to building an international export business as a man.
THE ORIGIN
Why Uganda?
One of Africa's best-kept secrets in specialty coffee — and that is beginning to change.
1,200–2,300m
Altitude Range
2
Harvest Seasons/Year
Bean Belt
Equatorial Location
Nestled along the equator, Uganda sits within the renowned Bean Belt — the ideal geographic band for premium coffee cultivation. With two distinct harvesting seasons per year, rich volcanic soils, and altitudes ranging from 1,200 to over 2,300 meters, the country produces conditions that most origins can only approximate.
Arabica from the slopes of Mount Elgon and the Rwenzori Mountains carries a natural complexity — bright acidity, floral notes, and a clean finish that specialty roasters increasingly seek. Robusta, for which Uganda is globally recognized, grows wild in its native region, offering a depth and earthiness that blends and espresso profiles depend on.
But beyond geography, what makes Uganda exceptional is its people. Smallholder farmers — many working small plots passed down through generations — bring an intimacy to the process that large-scale operations cannot replicate. Every cherry is hand-picked. Every lot tells a specific story of place and family.
“At Kembo Heritage, we don't travel far to find quality. We grew up beside it.”
What We Stand For
Farmer First
Every decision prioritizes higher farm-gate prices and long-term prosperity for Ugandan smallholders.
Traceability Always
Every bean carries a farm name, farmer's story, altitude, and processing method.
Direct Relationships
From the hands that grow it to the hands that roast it — personal partnerships built on trust and shared success.
Origin Pride
Uganda produces world-class coffee that deserves world-class recognition.
Results Over Rhetoric
Our commitment is simple: farmers we work with earn meaningfully more than commodity routes pay. Our target is to pay above the commodity farm-gate price. We publish what we actually deliver.
Our Team
THE PEOPLE BEHIND EVERY SHIPMENT

Alexander M. Kakembo
Founder & Chief Export Officer
USA
Born into the fourth generation of a coffee farming family, Alexander didn't learn this trade from a textbook — he learned it from the land itself. Raised on the farms of Uganda, he carries both the heritage of the crop and the vision to carry its story beyond borders. Every shipment Kembo Heritage moves is a reflection of a legacy he was born into and a mission he chose to build.

Josh Leone
Head of Marketing & Business Development
USA
With over 30 years of sales experience, Josh brings something no strategy deck can manufacture — the instinct to connect, persuade, and close. He has seen markets shift, trends come and go, and through it all, one thing has remained constant: people buy from people they trust. At Kembo Heritage, Josh is the voice that opens doors.

Ronald Nsimbi
Head of Operations & Technology
Kampala, Uganda
Ronald's story begins where ours does — on the farms. Raised and educated on the proceeds of Ugandan coffee, he is living proof of what this crop is truly capable of. Today, he manages our operational pipeline and technology infrastructure from the source, ensuring that what we promise the world, Uganda delivers.

Majorine M. Nanozi
Head of Operations — Middle East
Doha, Qatar
Majorine is the kind of person a business is built around — self-driven, results-oriented, and gifted with a rare ability to make every connection feel personal. Based in Doha, she is Kembo Heritage's anchor in the Gulf market, turning introductions into relationships and relationships into lasting partnerships. Where others see a market, Majorine sees people — and that makes all the difference.

John Paul Kityo
Head of Trade & Logistics
Kampala, Uganda
In export, the difference between a smooth shipment and a costly delay often comes down to one thing — who is handling your customs. John Paul brings deep expertise in trade compliance and logistics clearance, ensuring that every consignment Kembo Heritage moves clears efficiently, correctly, and on time. He is the operational backbone that turns our promises into delivered product.

Lutaaya Alex
Sourcing & Farmer Relations Officer
Uganda
Alex has spent his career at the most important intersection in specialty coffee — the place where the farmer meets the market. With years of hands-on experience building supply chains across Uganda's growing regions, he brings both the technical knowledge and the human fluency that sourcing at this level demands. He understands compliance, international trade standards, and the intricacies of connecting local cooperatives to global buyers. But what sets Alex apart is what no résumé can fully capture — the relationships. The farmers who pick up when he calls. The cooperatives that open their gates because they know his name. The trust, built lot by lot, season by season, that ensures every bean Kembo Heritage exports is exactly what we say it is. At Kembo, Alex is not just our sourcing officer — he is our promise to the farmer, kept in person, every harvest.
